13th December 2011 The Group's Christmas meal will be taking place at the Marquis of Granby, Weymouth. A copy of the menu can be found here. £5 deposit/head is required to secure your place, ideally to Fiona. Arrive in time for chat and a drink before hand, food will be served at 7.30pm.
15th November 2011 Mike Colbourne from Monkey World will be talking to the Group about Monkey World, and how they are involved in the rescue and welfare of animals, as well as the actual Monkey World Apre Rescue Centre near to Wool.
18th October 2011 The Group's Annual General Meeting will be taking place. After the AGM a selection of DVD clips will be shown.
20th July 2011 (note: this is Wednesday) The Group’s July Social evening will be taking place at the Coastal Watch Lookout Station on Portland. The evening will start at 7.00pm, so please arrive in time to park. Geoff Peters will be giving the group a tour of the facilities, and members will be able to see what equipment is used. In addition Geoff will give a short talk on what the Lookout Station does and how everything works.
Directions: Head towards Portland Bill Lighthouse on Portland Bill Road, turning right onto a small road (signed as a private road) shortly before The Pulpit Public House, next to a garage with large white doors.

17th July 2011 The local Porsche Owners club will be taking part in a Manoeuvrability Competition organised by the Group at The Verne Prison overflow carpark on Portland at 4.00pm. Group members are welcome to come along and admire some of these wonderful looking vehicles while the owners tackle the challenging course.
21st June 2011 Roger Jewell from the Plymouth Group - will be talking about Eco driving - we will be able to check our eye sight, and along with a few other bits will also be showing a DVD.
17th May 2011 Richard Furneaux, the Region One group co-ordinator will be talking to the group about some of the new processed and systems which are being implemented within IAM HOuse to ensure the IAM has a whole runs as efficiently as possible.
19th April 2011 Mike Wells will be talking to the group about some of his humorous experience as a Police Driving Instructor.
15th February 2011 Philip Ringer will be talking to the group on the subject of ‘Remembering the Lynmouth Flood of 1952’. Philip will recount the events of 1952 and how a little over 50 years later he was involved in helping the community bring closure to their ‘collective memory’.
19th January 2011 (was 18th January 2011) **Due to events out of our control this social evening has changed dates** Steve White, who is a member of Dorchester & West Dorset Advanced Motorcyclists (DWDAM) will be talking to the Group about his visit to Monte Carlo. He and his driver were one of the lasts team to leave London, but completed the route in 5 days, and won a trophy.
7th December 2010 The Christmas social evening will be taking place in The Marquis of Granby on Chickerell Road with a three course meal. The sit-down time is 7.00pm, so arrive in time to arm yourself with a drink (if you are not driving!). If you wish to attend, then a £5 deposit is required, and should be made available to a member of the committee (ideally Fiona) and your menu options registered with Fiona. 16th November 2010 Mike Webb, from Blandford Tyres will be talking to the group about tyres - how to care for them and about tread patterns. How and why they work and the different types, along with infomation on tyre compounds. Hopefully he will bring along a few examples.
19th October 2010 The Group’s AGM will be taking place, with a guest speaker John Davies who works for Global Marine Systems who specialise in the maintence of submarine telecom cables.

12th August 2010 A trip to UKAEA Winfrith Fire station has been arranged. Amongst other activities the evening will be a demonstration of cutting up a car and what to do in the unlikely event of an accident. If you would like to take part and come along you will need to be booked onto the secure site, so please contact Fiona McVey, our Events Officer, by 2nd August. Places are limited to approximately 25 on a first come basis. Access to the site is Via the West Gate off Gatemore Road (turn off the Wool to Dorchester Road A352 opposite the Red Lion Pub).
20th July 2010 Anne Taylor will be giving the Group a presentation on how Tall Ships are operated, prepared and how the crew come together. Ann will also give a short talk on PAT Dogs, she will be bringing her PAT dog along to the presentation.

Colin Paterson who is the IAM Director of Marketing and Communications will be coming to talk to the group about his roll in IAM House, and his aims and how he would like to the see the IAM Grow and develop.
18th May 2010 John Brewster will be presenting to the Group on behalf of the Dorset Jaguar Enthusiast Club with slides and a display of vintage cars in the car park.
20th April 2010 Merv Sharp will be talking to the Group about his swimming achievements. Merv became the first man to swim the English Channel seven times in 1974, and his long distance swimming has also seen him recognised by the Guinness Book of Records.

Presentation by Ron Harvey of his last Dive Trip to the Pacific (Truk Lagoon) and a DVD Film of Fantastic underwater wrecks (Operation Hailstorm 1944 by the USA). Back by popular request - not to be missed!
Peter Rodger who is the Chief Examiner from IAM House will be talking to the group. This will be a great opportunity to ask any questions which you may have. He appears in the Advanced Driving Magazine.

18th August 2009 Manoeuverability Competition. This will be taking place in the HMP The Verne’s overflow car park on Portland. Head over to Portland and pass through Victoria Square and turn up the hill along Victoria Road, and follow the road round into Castle Road. Take the first left signed as ‘HMP The Verve’ into Verne Common Road. Continue along this road, through the traffic lights and a tunnel, and then to your left is main carpark, go through this into the overflow car park.
21st July, 2009 Mr Fox will be presenting the to group for what is hoped will be a most humorous evening.
16th June, 2009 Andy Crawley from the Ambulance Service with be talking to the group about his work. Hopefully he will be bringing his vehicle as well, so we can all see the equipment they use.
19th May, 2009 The group will be listening to a talk from the Dorset Wildlife Trust.
21st April, 2009 This social evening is being held as a Skittles night at The Frampton Arms, Moreton, Dorchester DT2 8BB. Easy to get to for drivers, good parking and next to rail station if you don’t want to drive! Come along and have fun with us and bring your friends too. More the merrier - why not come along with your friends and family?

20th January, 2009 An examiner from the Dorchester Test Centre is coming to give a presentation called ‘Arrive Alive Classic’ - aimed at the older driver.

17th June, 2008 Unfortuantely Andy Crawley from the Ambulance service will not be able to make his scheduled talk. However Alan Muncaster will instead be talking to the group about Road Systems. Alan works in the road section of the Council.

20th May, 2008 The group’s treasure hunt will be taking place, meet at the carpark around the back of the Dorchester Library (this is due to Top O’Town car park being closed) - look out for a silver Octavia estate. Start time from 6.15-7.00pm.
15th April, 2008 Alan Morgon from the Dorset Fire and Rescue Service will be talking to the group on his work, and in addition how his work requires him to deal with "Young Drivers".

18th March, 2008 This months social evening starts witha talk from ‘The Pet Experience’. Cormac and Sarah Lineham, who run a store on The Granby will be talking about travelling with pets and how to keep them safe and stress free. Sarah is also an animal behaviourist.
19th February, 2008 Jamie Allmond is the Lead on Drink Driving and also part of the Collision Investigation Team dealing with all aspects of Fatal Accidents, and he will be talking to the group about with his job entails. Jamie is based at the Dorset Police Head Quarters at Winfrith.
15th January, 2008 Scott Olipant who works for the Dorset Police as a Traffic management officer in the Operations Divisions will be talking to the group about how the police manage the road infrastructure.
20th November, 2007 Dave Auger from the Weymouth Lifeboat will be talking to the Group about the work they are involved in with the rescuing of people around the Weymouth coast line.
16th October, 2007 The Groups Annual General Meeting will take place as detailed on page 7 of the August newsletter. The speaker after the AGM will be a member of staff from the DTU (Driver Training Unit) based at Ferndown.

18th September, 2007 Chief Crew Member of Whiskey Bravo Coastguard Helicopter - A member of the crew will be talking to the Group about the work done by the team and their rescue services.

20th February, 2007 Due to the success of previous table top rallys, another one is being prepared for your pleasure. All you need to do is turn up, clues and maps will be provided.... who will be the fastest around the route this time?
16th January, 2007 The group will be receiving a talk from a crew member of the Avon and Somerset Air Ambulance crew. Hopefully this talk should give us an insight into the varied and dangerous roles the air ambulance crews across the country partake in, to ensure our safety and health.
20th December, 2006 A combined Christmas party between the Dorset Car Group and and the Dorset Motorcycle Section has been organised. For additional details and a booking form which needs to be returned by 20th November, please see pages 8-9 of the November Newsletter.
21st November, 2006 Nigel Dyer from Ultra Seal will be talking to the group about their products which can prevent a puncture from causing your tyre to go flat. Ultra Seal works at up to speeds of 150mph unlike traditional puncture repair kits which tend to fail at around 40-50mph.
